Obituary (6 August 2002) It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of T.K. Biaya. Biaya passed away in Dakar in early July after having been hospitalized for over a month. Biaya became involved in the LPCA project as a highly esteemed member of the LPCA Advisory Board in November 1998. He was one of the key figures in the study of popular culture in Africa and he will be sorely missed by Africanists worldwide. From here, we wish to express our sincere gratitude for the part he played in the LPCA endeavour. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and direct colleagues.
